Evelina Agabalaeva

• Diploma-recipient at the 2nd International Competition of Young Opera Singers Opera Without Borders (Krasnodar, 2015).
• Prize-winner at the 3rd Sergei Rachmaninoff Music International Competition (St Petersburg, 2005)

Evelina Agabalaeva was born in Leningrad. In 2013 she graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Vladimir Vaneyev), and since that time she has been soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers. At the Opera and Ballet Theatre of the St Petersburg Conservatory she performed the roles of Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro). She made her Mariinsky theatre debut as Sister Dolcina in Suor Angelica.

Evelina regularly appears in chamber music concerts by the Academy of Young Opera Singers and in productions for children: Scenes from the Life of Nikolenka Irteniev (the Mother), Adalmina’s Pearl (White Fairy) and The Boy Giant (Echidna (Madame Viper)).

On tours with the Mariinsky Opera Company she performed the roles of Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Laura (Iolanta).

In 2014 she sang as Romeo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi at the Kazakh Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Abay (production by Alexei Stepanyuk).

In 2016 together with other members of the academy she appeared in Esa-Pekka Salonen’s concert cycle Stravinsky: Myths & Rituals in London’s Royal Festival Hall (the Mother in Mavra).
