Born in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in 2011 (class of Professor Lyudmila Kovaleva).
Joined the Mariinsky Ballet the same year.

In April 2014 as part of the Mariinsky Theatre’s project A Creative Workshop of Young Choreographers Irina Tolchilshchikova staged the one-act ballet Mind Games to music by Max Richter.
In August 2015, she attended the NDT summer intensive course at the Netherlands Dance Theatre (The Hague, Netherlands) where she performed solo dances from the ballets by Sol León/ Paul Lightfoot and Crystal Pite.
With the Mariinsky company, she toured Germany, Japan, China, USA, France, UAE and England.
