Coach and Repetiteur
Born in Australia, he attended the Australian Ballet School and danced with companies in Australia and Germany. Coyle later trained at the Institute of Choreology in London, graduating in 1978, after which he worked as a dance notator with The Scottish Ballet and the Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet.
In 1987 he was invited to join The Royal Ballet as their Principal Dance Notator. In 2004 Grant Coyle became a repetiteur for the Royal Ballet. Coyle has worked with many choreographers including George Balanchine, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Sir Frederick Ashton, Peter Darrell and David Bintley, reproducing ballets for many companies including the Opéra de Paris Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada, ABT, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Bavarian State Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, National Ballet of Hungary and La Scala Ballet. He left the Royal Ballet in 2013 to pursue a freelance career. In 2008 he was made a Fellow of the Institute of Choreolgy.
