Emil Faski


Choreographer

Emil Faski trained at Perm State Choreographic College and in 1992 graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy (class of Gennady Selyutsky).

Has danced with the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre and in companies of Hamburg, Monte-Carlo and Stuttgart, where he performed roles in the classical repertoire and appeared in ballets by John Cranko, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek and John Neumeier.

Has worked as a choreographer since 2007. Diploma recipient at the International Ballet Dancers and Choreographers Competition in Moscow (2009).

Emil Faski’s works at the Mariinsky Theatre include choreography for the opera Les Troyens (2009), the ballet Simple Things (2010) to music by Arvo Pärt, and a fragment from the ballet The Tragedy of Salome (2013) to music by Florian Schmitt, presented as part of the Creative Workshop of Young Choreographers project.

Has also created works for the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Moscow State Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre and Sevastopol’s Academy of Choreography. In 2014 he staged the ballet segment of the opening ceremony of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
