Gianni Santucci studied classical dance in Arezzo, Rome and New York, later assimilating contemporary dance techniques, studying under Alwin Nikolais, Enrica Palmieri and Carolyn Carlson. In the 1980s and early 90s, he worked as a dancer with ballet companies in Rome, Naples, Taormina, Urbino and Trieste as well as with several New York ensembles. Has taught modern dance at the Centre Chorégraphique National Roubaix-Nord Pas-de-Calais (France), worked as a choreographer at the Teatro Massimo in Catania and taught classical and modern dance at many schools in Italy and France. Has also worked on productions of dramas, operas and operettas including Tosca, La traviata, Don Pasquale, I pagliacci (for Woody Allen's film To Rome with Love), Die Lustige Witwe and Die Csárdásfürstin among others. Has staged the dances for musicals, plays, films (John Wick 2 by Chad Stahelski, Ben Hur by Timur Bekmambetov, Il viaggio della sposa by Sergio Rubini and Pinocchio by Roberto Benigni among others) and television. Has written the musical comedy Nicola, il Santo (staged in Bari in 2006).
