Production Designed

Tim Goodchild three times Oliver Award Winner has designed for stage, television and film. He has designed over sixty productions for West End Theatre, twenty of which are musicals. He has also designed twenty productions for the News Shakespeare Company. In 1988 he made history when he designed the first Anglo-Soviet production of Swan Lake for the Moscow Classical Ballet, see in London, the USA, Japan and Moscow. He also designed the ballet A Simple Man, for BBC2, which was the winner of the 1987 BAFTA Award. Tim also designed The Look of Love for BBC2, directed by Gillian Lynne and Don Quixote for the Northern Ballet Theatre.

West End works includes: Henry IV starring Richard Harris (Wyndhams), Bus Stop starring Jerry Hall And Shaun Cassidy (Lyric), Chapter Two starring Tom Conti and Sharon Gless (Gielgud), Someone like you, Brief Lives, Killing Jessica, Richard II, Hadrian VII and Our Song starring Peter O´Toole. For Cameron Mackintosh, revives of Oklahoma! – Also in Australia, My Fair Lady, The Card, Little Shop of Horrors, Blondel, Cafe Puccini and Five Guys named Moe – also on Broadway and Australia. Other musicals include: Wonderful Town, Pump Boys and Dinettes, Hello Dolly, The Two Ronnies, Hans Anderson, Gone With The Wind, Phil the Fluter, Salad Days, Thomas and the King, Troubadour, Sing a Rude Song, Colette and Cowardy Custard.

His designs for Chichester Festival Theatre include: Robert and Elizabeth, R Loves J, School for Scandal, Love for Love and Blithe Spirit.
For the Royal Shakespeare Company his designs include: The Taming of the Shrew, The Relapse, Xenobia, Three Hours After Marriage and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Internationally he has designed: The Bacchae (Holland), My Fair Lady, Tomfoolery (Norway), Anthony and Cleopatra (Egyptian National Theatre, Cairo), Peter Pan (McNab Theatre, Canada), Cyrano de Bergerac (Stratford Ontario Festival Theatre, Canada) and Gigi (Volksoper, Vienna).

Opera design credits include: La Traviata (Royal Danish Opera and WNO), Die Fledermaus, La Vie Parisienne (ENO), The Mikado (Sidney Opera House), HMS Pinafore, The Gondoliers, The Mikado (Sadler´s Wells), The Tales of Hoffman (Victoria State Opera/ Huston Grand Opera), Così fan Tutti (Garsington Opera) and Mephistopheles (ENO, London Coliseum).

He was awarded an Oliver Award for Best Costume Design for his work on the RSC production of The Relapse and in 1998 another two Oliver awards for Best Set for the RSC production of Three Hours after Marriage and also for costumes. He has also received the Green Room Award for Best Opera Design for The Tales of Hoffman in Australia and has been nominated for the Theatre LA Ovations Award for Best Set (Five Guys named Moe) and the Sammy Award for Best TV Film Design (Fool on the Hill).
