Lev Zhuravsky was born in 2000 in St Petersburg. In 2023 he graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Grigory Maliyov). Has taken part in masterclasses conducted by Yevgeny Petrov, Heiner Schindler, Rosemary Brumbelow, Hedwig Swimberghe, Giora Feidman, Olli Leppäniemi and Ralph Manno.
Winner at the St Petersburg Open Competition for Young Wind and Percussion Instrument Performers (2015), the Fanfares of St Petersburg International Open Competition for Performers of Wind and Brass Instruments (2016), the International Gnessin Festival and Competition of Young Performers of Wind and Percussion Instruments in Moscow (2018) and the Happy Birthday, Maestro! Clarinettists’ International Festival and Competition in Moscow (2019). Prize-winner at the International Weber Clarinet Competition in Petrozavodsk (2016, 2nd prize; 2021, 1st prize), the All-Russian Music Competition (Moscow, 2020; 2nd prize in the category “Woodwind Quintet”), the Aeolus International Competition for Wind Instruments (Düsseldorf, 2022; 4th prize) and the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments (2022; 3rd prize). Special prize winner at the Leoš Janáček International Competition in Brno (2019). Recipient of 3rd prize and the Bronze Medal at the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow – St Petersburg, 2023).
Has appeared at the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Moscow Concert Hall Zaryadye, the St Petersburg State Capella, the Mariinsky Theatre and the St Petersburg Philharmonia as well as in Kazakhstan, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Italy, Tanzania, Argentina, the Netherlands and Switzerland. In September 2018 he took part in a tour with the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra under Yuri Bashmet to countries in Asia.
Since 2017 he has featured in programmes of the St Petersburg Music House.
Since 2019 Lev Zhuravsky has been a soloist with the Mikhailovsky Symphony Orchestra.
