Conductor

Yury Demidovich was born in Minsk in 1996. Graduated from the Choral Conducting Department of the Republican Gymnasium-College under the Belarusian State Academy of Music (Minsk; class of Larisa Shimanovich). During his studies he appeared in solo vocal programmes as a treble in Germany, France, Poland, Belgium, Italy, Russia and other countries. In 2015 he entered the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, improving his skills at the Choral Conducting Department with Stanislav Kalinin and at the Solo Singing Department with Alexey Martynov. Has also studied composition with Valery Kikta, under whose guidance Yury wrote Belarusian Waltz-Reflection for symphony orchestra. After completing his fourth year he transferred to the Opera and Symphonic Conducting Department (class of Vyacheslav Valeyev) and graduated with honours in 2021. In 2023 he also completed, with honours, an assistant traineeship at the Moscow Conservatory (class of Anatoly Levin).

At Moscow’s International Rachmaninoff Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors Yury Demidovich received a special prize in 2022, and in 2025 won 3rd prize and a Bronze Medal. Recipient of the Ivan Kozlovsky Foundation Award (2023).

From 2021 to 2023 he taught in the Opera Training Department and conducted at the Opera Theatre of the Moscow Conservatory. While still a student he worked as an assistant on productions of La bohème, La traviata and Eugene Onegin. Served as the music director and conductor for a production of Aleko (2021).

Since September 2023 Yury Demidovich has been a trainee conductor at the Mariinsky Theatre. In 2024, on its stage in St Petersburg, he conducted L’elisir d’amore and La traviata. At the Mariinsky Theatre’s Branch in the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania he conducted the premiere of a new production of Kirill Molchanov’s The Dawns Here Are Quiet, as well as performances of La traviata, Die Fledermaus and The Snow Queen.

Since February 2026 Yury Demidovich has also served as Artistic Director of Syktyvkar’s State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Komi Republic.

Has conducted the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Symphony and Russian National orchestras, the Concert Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Conservatory, the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra (Moscow), the Yaroslavl Academic Governor’s Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus (Minsk), the State Symphony Capella of Russia (Moscow), the Rostov Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Tyumen Philharmonic Orchestra and other ensembles.
