Rubin Abdullin is the rector of the Kazan State Zhiganov Conservatoire, a jury member of All-Russian and international competitions and Chair of the Union of Organists of Russia. Born in 1950. In 1973 he graduated from the Kazan State Conservatoire as a pianist (piano class of Emmanuil Monaszon), and in 1974 he graduated from the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire as an organist (class of Nina Oksetian). Continued his studies as a teacher and a performing organist as part of a postgraduate traineeship at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire under Leonid Roizman.
In the 1980s he performed a series of major concerts, among them From the History of Organ Music, J. S. Bach, His Predecessors and Contemporaries, If Bach Had Kept a Diary and Portraits of Organist-Composers. He was the first performer of a number of 20th century works for organ including music by Shamil Sharifullin, Alexander Mirgorodsky and Rashid Kalimullin. His stage partners have included Natan Rakhlin, Ravil Martynov, Vladimir Minin, Fuat Mansurov and Irina Arkhipova among others.
Performs in recital as an organist and as a pianist. Has appeared at every major organ venue in Russia, as well as in prestigious concert halls in Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia and the USA.
Has supervised the installation of organs at various halls in Kazan, Kaliningrad, Kirov, Arkhangelsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, St Petersburg, Ulyanovsk and Khanty-Mansiysk.
Engagements for the current season include participating in the ORGANO PLENO international festival in Kazan and appearances at the Grand Salikh Saidashev Concert Hall in Kazan, the Kazan State Conservatoire and other venues in that city.
