İlyun Bürkev


Piano

İlyun Bürkev was born in İzmir (Turkey) in 2008. Began her piano studies at the Istanbul State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University with Professor Burcu Aktaş Urgun. Currently she hones her skills at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with Professor Pavel Gililov. Has taken part in masterclasses held by Gülsin Onay, Gereon Kleiner, Andreas Weber, Vincenzo Barzani, Shaun Choo, Yunus Kaya, Emre Sen, Jean-Marc Luisada, Pablo Galdo, Valerian Shiukashvili, Caspar Frantz, Alfred Brendel, Björn Lehmann, Hüseyin Sermet, Milana Chernyavska and Piotr Paleczny. The pianist is a scholarship holder of the Musikakademie in Liechtenstein and participates in its intensive weeks and activities.

Prize-winner at the Paris International Music Competition (2018; 3rd prize), the Adana Rhapsody Piano Competition (Turkey, 2019; 3rd prize), the Istanbul Pera International Piano Competition (2019; 1st prize), the María Herrero International Piano Competition (Granada, Spain, 2019; 1st prize and special prize for musicality), the Chopin International Piano Competition for Children and Young Pianists (Istanbul, 2021; 1st prize and special prizes for the best performance of a work by Chopin and for the best interpretation of a work by the composer belonging to the country of the participant), the International Piano Competition Jeune Chopin (Lugano, Switzerland, 2023; 3rd prize) and the Philadelphia International Music Festival Concerto Competition (2024; Grand Prix and 1st prize) among other contests.

İlyun Bürkev performed at numerous concerts in Turkey and abroad. In 2021 she appeared with the Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Eray İnal and with the Doğuş Children Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Rengim Gökmen. In 2022 the pianist performed with the Ankara State Opera Orchestra and the İzmir State Symphony Orchestra, and in 2023 she played Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 13 with the Camerata Saygun Chamber Orchestra. Has appeared at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Rudolf-Oetker-Halle in Bielefeld, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Liederhalle Stuttgart, the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, the Konzerthaus Karlsruhe, the Meistersingerhalle Nürnberg and Munich’s Herkulessaal among other venues. İlyun Bürkev participated in the Bellapais International North Cyprus Music Festival, the Chieti Classica International Music Festival (Italy), the Moscow Meet Friends festival, the Gümüşlük International Music Festival (Turkey) and the Opus Music Festival (Bodrum Castle, Turkey).
