Cemil Yener Gökbudak


Piano

Cemil Yener Gökbudak was born in Meram (Konya, Turkey) in 1996. In 2004 he started his piano education. From 2006 the young artist studied piano with Gülnara Aziz at the Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts Music Preparation High School in Ankara. He graduated from the school in 2014 and won the examination of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, where he is currently studying with Professor Ruvim Ostrovsky.

Participated in masterclasses conducted by Dmitri Bashkirov, Boris Berman, Boris Berezovsky, Matti Raekallio, François-René Duchâble, Aquiles Delle Vigne, Gülsin Onay, Özgür Aydın and Kamerhan Turan.

Prize-winner at the National Chopin Piano Competition (Ankara, 2010; 1st prize), the Sergei Rachmaninoff Piano Competition (Istanbul, 2011; 2nd prize), the Alemdar Karamanov International Competition for Young Pianists (Simferopol, 2011; special prize), the Roma International Piano Competition (2012; 3rd prize), the International Competition Young Virtuosos (Sofia, 2014; 2nd prize), the Coimbra World Piano Competition (Portugal, 2017; 3rd prize) and the Alion Baltic International Music Festival (Riga, 2019; 1st prize) among others.

Has appeared at the Mariinsky International Piano Festival, Moscow’s festivals Rising Stars in the Kremlin (2011) and We Gather Friends (2012), the International Holland Music Sessions (Bergen, Netherlands, 2013), the Musica Mundi chamber music festival (Waterloo, Belgium, 2014), the Cap Ferret Music Festival (France, 2016), the Lisztomanias de Châteauroux festival (France, 2018) to name but a few.

Has performed with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra (Ankara), the Mersin University Academic Chamber Orchestra and the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra (Turkey).
