Mira (Miroslava) Marchenko was born in 1962. She graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in 1986 and completed an assistant traineeship there in 1989.
Prize-winner at the London International Piano Competition, the Pancho Vladigerov International Piano Competition (Bulgaria) and the Balakirev All-Russian Competition of Piano Duets (Nizhny Novgorod). Diploma recipient at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (Bolzano, Italy) and the Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition (Moscow). Winner of a special EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association) prize for outstanding achievements in the field of pedagogy. In 2013 she won the All-Russian Contest The Best Teacher of the Children’s Art School.
Has repeatedly participated in major international festivals in Hungary, the USA, Spain, Ukraine and Lithuania among other countries. She gives a large number of recitals as well as chamber performances and concerts with symphony orchestras. Her repertoire includes the widest range of musical heritage – from the Baroque to modern times.
She was the chairman of the juries of the International Competition of Grand Prix Golden Talents (Kursk) and the International Competition of Pianists, Violinists and Cellists Young Musician (Tallinn) as well as a member of the juries of the Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition, the children’s music festival Simurg (Baku) and international contests held by the association Art and Education of the 21st Century among others. Actively participates in international forums, masterclasses for students and teachers, and concerts by artists. Collaborates with the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation and the New Names Charitable Foundation.
Since 1986 Mira Marchenko teaches special piano at the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory (since 2022 the Central Music School – Academy of Performing Art). From 2016 to 2019 she was the head of its Special Piano Department.
Among her pupils there are many laureates of various international competitions, who take part in festivals in Verbier and Salzburg and perform at famous world venues. Concerts of students of her class are held at the best halls in Moscow and St Petersburg, including the Mariinsky Theatre.
