Can Saraç


Piano

Can Saraç was born in Istanbul in 2007. Received his first piano lessons at the age of five. In 2012 he won Istanbul University State Conservatory exams; studied under the guidance of Dr Fulya Tezer between 2013 and 2021. In June 2021 Can Saraç was accepted to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München Pre-College programme for highly gifted students, where he is mentored by Professor Michael Schäfer. Also is improving his skills with Professor Gökhan Aybulus. Scholarship holder of the Musikakademie in Liechtenstein. He has attended masterclasses conducted by renowned and prominent pianists including Pavel Gililov, Janina Fialkowska, Michel Béroff, Andrea Bonatta and Ludmil Angelov among many others.

Prize-winner at numerous contests in Germany, Bulgaria, Macedonia (since 2019 North Macedonia), Turkey, Italy, Spain and Hungary, including the OHRID PEARLS International Competition for Young Musicians (Macedonia, 2018; 1st prizes in the solo and duo categories), the International Adana Rhapsody Piano Competition (Turkey, 2019; 1st prize) and the Wiener Klassiker International Music Competition (Hungary, 2021; 1st prize). Received the Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Prize of the Piano Academy Eppan (Appiano sulla Strada del Vino, South Tyrol, Italy) in 2023, becoming the youngest pianist to win that award.

In 2022 he appeared at the Liederhalle Stuttgart and gave solo recitals at the Hermitage State Museum (St Petersburg) and the GES-2 House of Culture (Moscow). In 2023 the artist performed a solo recital at the Polish Institute in Sofia, and played Beethoven’s Second Piano Concerto at the Admiralspalast in Berlin.

Has taken part in the Cliburn Junior Festival (Texas), the Glafsfjordens Music Festival and Winter Academy (Ingesund, Sweden), the Feuerwerk Einbeck International Piano Academy (Germany), the International Gümüşlük Music Festival Academy (Turkey) and the Piano Extravaganza Festival (Sofia). Has performed as a soloist and in chamber ensembles at several venues such as the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall (Istanbul), the Presidential Symphony Orchestra Hall (Ankara) and the Schaaner SAL (Liechtenstein).
