Dmitry Shishkin was born in 1992 in Chelyabinsk. Has played the piano since the age of two. In 2015 he graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (class of Eliso Virsaladze). Afterwards Dmitry has studied under Epifanio Comis at the Istituto Musicale Vincenzo Bellini (Conservatorio Bellini) in Catania (Italy) and under Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover.
In 2013 he won 3rd prize at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano (Italy). Unranked laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels (2016). In 2017 the artist took 1st prize at the Top of the World International Piano Competition in Tromsø (Norway). In 2018 he won 1st prize at the Geneva International Music Competition, and in 2019 – 2nd prize and the Silver Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow – St Petersburg).
Collaborates with the Mariinsky Orchestra, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia (Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra), the Russian National Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the State Symphony Orchestra Novaya Rossiya, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra (under the direction of Pavel Kogan), the St Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra, the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Belgian National Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Has worked with conductors including Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Mikhail Pletnev, Vasily Petrenko, Vladislav Chernushenko, Alexander Rudin, Maxim Fedotov, Alexander Sladkovsky, Mikhail Khokhlov and Marin Alsop.
Has appeared at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival (Croatia), the Bergen International Festival (Norway), the Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo (Italy) and the International Music Festival Chopin and His Europe in Warsaw. He has given concerts in Russia, Germany, Austria, France, Great Britain, Switzerland, Italy, San Marino, Croatia, the USA, Japan, China, Thailand, Poland, South Korea and South Africa.
Has recorded several solo CDs with works by Chopin, Wagner, Elgar, Paderewski, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Medtner and Tchaikovsky.
