Violin

Anna Savkina was born in Bratsk (Irkutsk Region) in 1994. In 2013 she graduated from the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music (class of Alexander Vinnitsky), and in 2018 – from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (class of Vladimir Ivanov; one of the top nine graduates of the year), subsequently completing an assistant traineeship there. Has also studied at the Folkwang Universität der Künste (Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region) with Boris Garlitsky. Anna currently is improving her skills under the guidance of Eduard Wulfson in Switzerland.

Has taken part in masterclasses conducted by Boris Kuschnir, Maxim Fedotov, Pierre Amoyal, Wolfgang Redik, David Chan, Pinchas Zukerman, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Mihaela Martin, Augustin Dumay, Guy Braunstein and Guillaume Sutre.

Prize-winner at the Moscow International David Oistrakh Violin Competition (2006 and 2008; 1st prizes), the International LOUIS SPOHR Competition for Young Violinists (Weimar, 2007; 1st prize), the International Violin Competition Andrea Postacchini (Fermo, Italy, 2011; 3rd prize), the Heino Eller International Violin Competition (Tallinn, 2013; 3rd prize), the Sendai International Music Competition (Japan, 2013 and 2016; 4th prize and Audience Award), the International Violin Competition in Astana (Kazakhstan, 2014; Grand Prix), the Yampolsky International Violin Competition (Moscow, 2017; 3rd prize), the International Music Competition Buchenau Spring (Eiterfeld, Germany, 2018; 1st prize), the All-Russian Young Performers’ Competition commemorating seventy-five years since the founding of the Kazan Conservatory (2020; 1st prize) and the Savshinsky International Music Competition (St Petersburg, 2021; 2nd prize). In 2021 she received the International Award Pure Sound for the Best Recording of Russian Academic Music (Moscow; 3rd degree laureate) – for the performance of chamber works by Yuri Butsko.

Anna tours with recitals throughout Russia and abroad. She regularly plays at the Mariinsky Theatre. Has made appearances at the Konzerthaus and the Musikverein in Vienna and at the Grand halls of the Moscow Conservatory and the St Petersburg Philharmonia among numerous other venues. Collaborates with leading Russian and international orchestras, among them the Mariinsky Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia (Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra), the chamber orchestras Musica viva and Moscow Virtuosi, the Moscow Soloists chamber ensemble, the State Symphony Orchestra Novaya Rossiya, the St Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra and the St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra. Has appeared with conductors including Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Vladimir Spivakov, Yuri Bashmet, Pascal Verrot, Junichi Hirokami, Alexander Rudin, Vladimir Sirenko, Paavo Järvi, Emmanuel Leducq-Barôme, Alexei Rubin, Saulius Sondeckis, Alexei Vasiliev, Martin Hoff and Alexander Kantorov. Has performed at the Verbier Festival (Switzerland), the Festival International de Colmar (France), the Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi, the Night Serenades festival (Batumi – Tbilisi), the Queen Violin festival (Chișinău), the festivals Crescendo, Stars on Baikal and Moscow Greets Its Friends among others.
Participant in programmes of the St Petersburg Music House since 2019.

She currently plays a Tommaso Balestrieri violin (1752), on loan from the St Petersburg Music House.
