Giuseppe di Iorio was born in Naples and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Has worked on productions of the operas Aida, Carmen and Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Lirico as well as productions of Mittwoch (from the cycle Licht), Life Is a Dream, Khovanshchina, Otello, Idomeneo and La traviata for the Birmingham Opera. Has worked as a lighting designer on productions of Mitt woch (from Licht) and The Golden Cockerel (Bergen National Opera), La Cenerentola (Teatro Heredia, Cartagena de las Indias), Die Walküre (Teatro Massimo, Palermo), My Fair Lady (Théâtre du Châtelet and Mariinsky Theatre), Rigoletto (Athens’ Megaron), La traviata (Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari), Mosè in Egitto (Premio Abbiati Prize, 2011, Rossini Festival), Boris Godunov and The Makropulos Affair (Mariinsky Theatre), Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Teatro dell’opera, Rome), Die Gezeichneten (Premio Abbiati, Palermo), Götterdämmerung, Siegfried and Die Walküre (Lisbon), Die Zauberflöte (Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow) and Otello (Salzburg Festival, Opera di Roma). As a production designer and lighting designer he has worked on productions of Elektra and Cassandra (Teatro Bellini, Catania), Il trovatore (Nuremberg), Macbeth (Münster), Otello (Kiel), Carmen (Saarbrücken Opera) and Semele (Scottish Opera and the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee).
