Sergei Romanov was born in Leningrad. He graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 2000 (class of N.N. Alexeyev).
Soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers during 1999–2008.
Soloist with the Mariinsky Opera Company since 2008.
