Roman Arndt was born in 1988 in Salekhard. Graduated from the Shebalin Omsk College of Music (2009) and the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory (2014, class of Sergey Nikulshin).
In 2012 he became a soloist with the Zazerkalye Children’s Music Theatre, where he performs lead tenor roles, including Rodolfo in La bohème, Ferrando in Così fan tutte, Count Vaudémont in Iolanta, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Chekalinsky in The Queen of Spades, Ivan Lykov in The Tsar’s Bride, Don José in Carmen, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Cassio in Verdi’s Otello, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi among others. Since 2013 Roman Arndt has been a guest artist at the Mikhailovsky Theatre, appearing as Spoletta (Tosca), the King (Asafyev’s Cinderella) and Tamino.
Has taken part in productions of the festival All Together Opera in St Petersburg, including L’elisir d’amore (Nemorino), The Golden Cockerel (Tsarevich Guidon) and Tannhäuser (Walther von der Vogelweide) among others.
He portrayed the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) at Opera North (Leeds, Great Britain), Hoffmann (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at Syktyvkar’s State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Komi Republic, Albert in a screenlife version of The Miserly Knight, and he participated in concert performances of the opera Der Kaiser von Atlantis by Viktor Ullmann (Harlequin/Soldier) and the cantata Świtezianka (The Mermaid of Lake Switez) by Rimsky-Korsakov at the St Petersburg Philharmonia and the opera The Demon (Prince Sinodal) in the atrium of the General Staff Building.
Roman Arndt made his Mariinsky Theatre debut in 2019, appearing as Albert Gregor in the opera Věc Makropulos (The Makropulos Affair) .
