Mariinsky Theatre Guest Soloist

Oleg Videman graduated from the Novosibirsk State Glinka Conservatoire (class of Zinaida Didenko) in 2003. From 1994 to 1998, he was a soloist with the Abay National Theatre and Opera House (Almaty, Kazakhstan). Videman became a soloist with the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in 1998. The singer has appeared in more than twenty lead roles at the theatre.

Videman has been nominated for a Golden Mask Award for Best Opera Singer three times: for his Don José in Carmen in 2003, for his Radames in Aida in 2005, and for his Sergei in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk in 2007. In 2006, Videman was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of Russia.

The singer made his debut at the Mariinsky Theatre as Radames in Aida in 2001. He appeared as a soloist with the company the entire season. Since 2013, he has regularly appeared at the Mariinsky Theatre as a guest soloist.

As for concert performances, Videman has sung the part of Otello (Otello, Act III) and that of Heinrich Tannhäuser (Tannhäuser).

His repertoire also includes: Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca), Otello (Otello), Herman (The Queen of Spades), Rodolfo (La bohème), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Canio (Pagliacci), Vakula (Cherevichki), The Pretender, The Simpleton (Boris Godunov), Valter (The Passenger by Weinberg) among other.

He took part in a production of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk under the baton of Mstislav Rostropovich (2000–2001, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Rome, Naples, and Dijon). In 2005, he appeared in Cherevichki production at Teatro alla Scala. Videman also appeared as Macduff in Dmitri Tcherniakov and Teodor Currentzis’ Macbeth production in Novosibirsk and Paris (2009–2010).

On the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre he appeared as Radames in Aida and The Pretender in Boris Godunov.
