Mariinsky Theatre Guest Soloist
Studied the clarinet and saxophone, and subsequently opera, at the Pražská konzervatoř and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
At the Národní Divadlo theatre in Prague he performs such roles as Lohengrin (Lohengrin), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), the Prince (The Love for Three Oranges), Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Alfredo (La traviata) and Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus) among others. The singer’s repertoire includes lead roles in operas by Czech composers: Libuše, Dalibor and The Bartered Bride by Smetana, Jakobín and Rusalka by Dvořák and The Excursions of Mr Broucek, The Makropulos Affair, Káťa Kabanová and From the House of the Dead by Janáček among others.
As a guest soloist he has appeared in productions at the Komische Oper in Berlin (Eugene Onegin and Die tote Stadt), the Bayerische Staatsoper (From the House of the Dead), the Theater an der Wien (Wozzeck), the Oper Graz (von Zemlinsky’s Der Zwerg), the Opéra National de Paris, the National Theatre in Brno, the Edinburgh Festival and the BBC Proms festival. Performed the role of Janek in a production of the opera The Makropulos Affair at the Salzburg Festival in 2011.
Took part in the Czech premiere of Rodion Shchedrin’s opera Lolita, in which he performed the role of Claire Quilty.
