• Prize-winner at the Competition of Competitions of Vocalists of the XXIV Sobinov Musical Festival (Saratov, 2011; 1st prize)

Najmiddin Mavlyanov was born in Samarkand in 1979 and in 2008 graduated from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan (Tashkent; class of Olga Alexandrova). He was a member of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi in Tashkent in 2003–2010, and in 2010 he became a member of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre.

Mavlyanov made his Mariinsky Theatre debut in 2014 as Manrico (Il trovatore).

Najmiddin Mavlyanov appeared in tour performances by the Mariinsky Opera in Rome, Hamburg (Vaudémont in Iolanta) and Moscow (Herman in The Queen of Spades).

His repertoire also includes: the title roles of Otello by Verdi, Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Werther, Sir Edgar Ravenswood (Lucia di Lammermoor), Don Alvaro (La forza del destino), Alfredo Germont (La traviata), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Pierre Bezukhov (War and Peace), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Jason (Cherubini’s Médée), Faust (La Damnation de Faust), Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Ismaele (Nabucco), Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Nadir (Les Pêcheurs de perles), Ivan Lykov (The Tsar’s Bride), Prince Vasily Golitzin (Khovanshchina), Števa Buryja (Jenůfa), Young Gypsy (Aleko).

Appears at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia (Moscow), the Mikhailovsky Theatre (St Petersburg), the Royal Opera House (Covent Garden), the Metropolitan Opera, the Teatro alla Scala, the Vienna State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf – Duisburg), the Semperoper Dresden, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Hungarian State Opera (Budapest), the Finnish National Opera (Helsinki), the Vlaamse Opera (Flemish Opera; Ghent and Antwerp), the Israeli Opera (Tel Aviv) and the New National Theatre in Tokyo among other venues.

Mavlyanov’s concert repertoire includes Mozart’s Requiem, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde and Orff’s Carmina Burana.

For the role of Sadko in the eponymous opera at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, he was awarded the Casta Diva Russian opera prize for 2020 and Russia’s Golden Mask National Theatre Award (2021; in the category “Best Male Role in Opera”).
