Otar Jorjikia was born in Tbilisi. From 2003 to 2007 he studied at Performing Arts Studios Vienna, simultaneously he sang at the Chorus of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna. In 2011 Jorjikia took part in the young singers’ festival International Opera Workshop in Sigriswil (Switzerland), and in 2012 he attended masterclasses conducted by Renato Bruson and Edda Moser (Italy). In 2013 he graduated from Tbilisi State Conservatoire (class of Nodar Andguladze). In conservatoire’s opera studio he sang Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Alfredo Germont (La traviata), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Lensky (Eugene Onegin).

Since 2013 he has become a soloist of the Tbilisi Z. Paliashvili Opera and Ballet State Theatre, where he debuted as Don Alvaro in Verdi’s La forza del destino. In 2015 he sang parts of Malkhaz (Paliashvili’s Daisi) and Don José (Carmen) in the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre’s productions. He also performed tenor part in Haydn’s oratorio The Creation with the Georgian National Philharmonic Orchestra under David Kintsurashvili.

Otar Jorjikia made his Mariinsky Theatre debut in 2016 as Gabriele Adorno in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra with Placido Domingo under Valery Gergiev.

The tenor role in Verdi’s Requiem

In the 2016–17 season he trained in Zurich’s International Opera Studio where he sung the Count di Lerma (Don Carlo), Gustavo III (Un ballo in maschera), Malcolm (Macbeth), the tenor solo in Verdi’s Requiem. In the same season he made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia (La traviata, conducted by Tugan Sokhiev).

As a guest soloist, he has appeared at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera (Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto), the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (Rodolfo in La Bohème and Alfredo Germont in La traviata), the Sydney Opera House (Don José in Carmen), the Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse (Macduff in Macbeth), the Theater Basel (Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly), Parma’s Teatro Regio (Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera).

Repertoire also includes: Ernani (Ernani), Sir Edgar Ravenswood (Lucia di Lammermoor), Ismaele (Nabucco), Gastone (La traviata), the tenor role in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
