Andrei Serov was born in Klin, Moscow Region. In 2001 he graduated from the Institute of Contemporary Art in Moscow (class of Valentin Anisimov).
Worked as a soloist with the Moscow Regional Philharmonic and subsequently, during 2005–2009, with Moscow’s Helikon-Opera.
From 2007 to 2016 Andrei Serov was a soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers. He made his Mariinsky Theatre debut in 2009, performing at the world premieres of the one-act operas Shponka and His Aunt by Anastasia Bespalova and The Carriage by Vyacheslav Kruglik. Since 2016 he has been a member of the Mariinsky Opera Company.

In 2019 Andrei Serov has taken part in the world premiere of David Krivitsky’s opera Doctor Zhivago at the Mariinsky Theatre.
Under the baton of Valery Gergiev he appeared at New York’s Lincoln Center (Stravinsky’s Renard, 2010 and 2018), the Wiener Konzerthaus (Musorgsky’s cycle Songs and Dances of Death, 2010), Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Concert Hall (Shchedrin’s oratorio Lenin in the People’s Heart, 2017) and other notable venues.
Has toured to France, Denmark, Israel, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Estonia and South Korea.
Andrei Serov has featured in Mariinsky Theatre recordings of Stravinsky’s Les Noces, Massenet’s Don Quichotte, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Golden Cockerel.
In 2010 he was presented with the Audience Award from the St Petersburg Theatregoer Society for the role of Sancho Pança.
