Viktor Kustov was born in Irkutsk in 1979. In 1994, he entered the Irkutsk Music College (class of Agnia Zhuravleva). From 1996 to 1999, Kustov studied at the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music (class of Konstantin Kucherov). From 1999 to 2004, the musician was a student of the St Petersburg Conservatoire (class of Professor Sergei Roldugin).
From 2003 to 2004, Kustov was a trainee with the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra. From 2006 to 2013, he was the leader of the cellos of the St Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra. Since 2013, Kustov has been Assistant Concertmaster of the Mariinsky Orchestra cellos. The musician performs orchestra cello solos in opera productions (Rigoletto, Don Carlo, Tosca and others) and appears in chamber halls with various ensembles.
