Viktor Kulyk graduated from the St Petersburg Conservatory in 1994 (class of Valery Bezruchenko). In 1989–1991 he was member of St Petersburg Kamerata orchestra, in 1991–1994 of the Musorgsky (now Mikhailovsky) Theatre orchestra, since 1995 has been soloist of the Mariinsky Orchestra. Several times he was invited to play with the World Orchestra for Peace founded by George Solti.
As member of the Mariinsky Orchestra Viktor Kulyk plays solo clarinet parts in almost all opera and ballet works, participates in theatre’s concert tours and recordings on Mariinsky label. In addition to working with the orchestra, he performs as soloist and in chamber ensembles, conducts master classes and participates as jury member in various clarinet competitions and festivals.
In 2005 he was awarded the title of “Honoured Artist of Russia”.
