Born in 1979 in Leningrad. In 1999 he graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College, where he studied with Assist. Prof. Rostislav Yakovlev, and in 2004 from the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
Since 1999 Demian Gorodnichin has been member of the Mariinsky Orchestra double bass group, where he participated almost at every opera and ballet performance, symphonic and chamber concerts, recordings and concert tours. In Le nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte and other plays he performed the sole double bass part. He appears with chamber programs at the Mariinsky chamber halls.
He also plays viola da gamba and bass guitar and performs bass guitar solos in the Dead Souls by Rodion Shchedrin, works by Giya Kancheli and others.
