Zakhar Katsman


Horn

Zakhar Katsman was born in 1988 in Leningrad. He graduated from the St Petersburg Musorgsky Music College in 2007 and from St Petersburg Conservatory in 2013 (class of Anatoly Chepkov). Participated in master classes by European and American hornists. Laureate of several competitions including the All-Russian Wind Ensemble Competition (Kazan, 2010) and All-Russian Music Competition (2016, 2nd prize as soloist and member of the brass quintet).

Since 2013 he has been member of the Mariinsky Orchestra. He plays in brass ensembles in chamber halls performing repertoire from Baroque music to the 20th century (Nielsen, Barber, Stravinsky, Grisey etc.).
