Percussion
Tatiana Cheryomukhina was born in St Petersburg. In 1995 she graduated from the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music with distinction (class of Pavel Krichashvili). The same year she was a prize-winner at the International Wind and Percussion Instrument Performers’ Competition in Volgograd. In 1999 she was a prize-winner at the Kazan Republic Competition. In 2000 she graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire, again with distinction (class of Alexander Mikhailov). The same year she won the All-Russian Competition in St Petersburg and received an invitation to train at Amsterdam’s Conservatorium. At the Conservatorium in Amsterdam she studied under Jan Pustjens (snare drum), Marinus Komst (kettle drums) and Lorenzo Ferrandiz (marimba). In 2001 she took part in master-classes given by outstanding marimba player Leigh Howard Stevens (USA) who has produced methodological materials to play this instrument. In 2000 she joined the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra and she teaches at the Specialised Middle School of Music of the St Petersburg Conservatoire. Frequently performs in recital both in Russia and abroad, appearing on radio and television.
