Nikita Boriso-Glebsky was born in 1985 in Volgodonsk (Rostov Region). Graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and undertook a postgraduate study there (class of Eduard Grach and Tatiana Berkul), subsequently continuing his studies under the tutelage of Augustin Dumay at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel (Brussels) and under Ana Chumachenco at Kronberg Academy (Germany). Has taken part in international masterclasses at the Keshet Eilon Music Center in Israel, held under the patronage of Shlomo Mintz.
Has been a violinist and leader of the Moscovia Chamber Orchestra, in 2001 becoming a musician of the Moscow Philharmonic Society and a soloist there in 2003.
Prize-winner at the Yampolsky International Violin Competition (Penza, 2002; 3rd prize), the Kloster Schöntal International Violin Competition (Germany, 2003; 1st prize), the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition Hannover (2006), the Moscow International David Oistrakh Violin Competition (2007; 1st prize), the Tchaikovsky International Competition (Moscow, 2007; 2nd prize and five special awards), the Queen Elisabeth Competition (Brussels, 2009; 5th prize and special prize for a performance of a contemporary opus), the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition (Vienna, 2010; 1st prize), the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition (Helsinki, 2010; 1st prize), the Montreal International Music Competition (2010; 3rd prize) and the Monte Carlo Violin Masters competition (Monaco, 2013; Grand Prix). In 2009 he was awarded the title of “Violinist of the Year” by the International Maya Plisetskaya and Rodion Shchedrin Foundation. Recipient of the Virtuoso award from the Strings Academy (Italy) and the Consortium of Violinmakers Antonio Stradivari (Cremona, 2011), the Sibelius Medal (Helsinki, 2011).
Has appeared with such ensembles as the Belgian National Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre; has collaborated with the conductors Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Krzysztof Penderecki, Yuri Simonov, Vassily Sinaisky, Klaus Mäkelä, Dima Slobodeniouk, Sakari Oramo, David Afkham and Hannu Lintu. In chamber music the violinist has been partnered by Rodion Shchedrin, Natalia Gutman, Yuri Bashmet, Boris Berezovsky, David Geringas, Nikolai Lugansky, Mao Fujita, András Schiff and Alexander Rudin. In 2014 he was one of the organisers of and participants in the international sextet Rubik Ensemble. Since 2017 he has been a first violinist of the Atrium String Quartet.
Has featured in festivals in Salzburg, Rheingau, Dubrovnik, December Nights of Sviatoslav Richter, the Beethovenfest Bonn, the festivals Stars of the White Nights, Arts Square, Crescendo, Vivacello and the International Oleg Kagan Music Festival in Kreuth (Germany) among numerous others.
Repertoire includes works by Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Schumann, Elgar, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, 20th-century avant-garde (Britten, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Penderecki, Berio, Schnittke, Bartók) and works by such contemporary composers as Rodion Shchedrin, Alexander Tchaikovsky and Kuzma Bodrov.
In 2018 the label Profil (Germany) released an anthology of works by Nikolai Medtner for violin and piano performed by Nikita Boriso-Glebsky and Ekaterina Derzhavina. The musician has featured in recordings of five discs of works by Eugène-Auguste Ysaÿe on the label Outhere Music (2018–2019), which received the Diapason d’Or prize.
