Igor Zolotaryov was born in 1982 in Leningrad. At the age of four he began to study the violin. In 1990 he entered the Middle Special School of Music of the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. During his studies at the school he took part in All-Russian and international competitions.
From 2001–2006 he was a student at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (class of Antonina Kazarina). In 2003 he was a prize-winner at the International Glazunov Competition in Paris. From 2006–2011 he undertook a postgraduate study at the conservatoire. Has toured in Russia and abroad together with the student orchestra of the conservatoire. At present he frequently performs concerts at various music venues in St Petersburg.
