Ilya Kozlov was born in a family of violinists. He graduated from the Middle Special School of Music of the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservtoire and the St Petersburg Conservatoire itself (class of Vladimir Ovcharek). Prize-winner at the Tchaikovsky Youth Competition in St Petersburg (1997, 3rd prize), the International Mravinsky Competition in St Petersburg (1996, 1st prize), the International Glazunov Competition in Paris (2000, 1st prize) and the International Postacchini Competition in Fermo (2000, 1st prize and Grand-Prix). In 2002 he won the Yuri Temirkanov Prize. Regularly appears at Russian and international festivals including Musical Olympus and the Gergiev Festival in Rotterdam. Performs concerts in Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and Spain among other countries.
