Leonid Zhelezny was born in Moscow in 1994. Graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Alexander Vinnitsky), where he is currently undertaking an assistant-traineeship in the class of the same teacher.
Prize-winner at the Ludwig van Beethoven International Violin Competition (Sankt Pölten, Austria, 2010, 2nd prize), the International Music Competition in Stockholm (2014, 1st prize), the Leopold Auer International Violin Competition (St Petersburg, 2015, 2nd prize), the International Vladimir Spivakov Competition (Ufa, 2016, 3rd prize), the Václav Huml International Violin Competition (Zagreb, 2017, 2nd prize), the International Music Competition in Harbin (2018, 3rd prize) and the All-Russian Music Competition (Moscow, 2018, 2nd prize). Recipient of the Grand Prix at the International Violin Competition in Astana.
Has taken part in master-classes conducted by Boris Kuschnir, Igor Petrushevski, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Zakhar Bron, Chaim Taub and Alexander Vinnitsky.
Participant in programmes of the St Petersburg Music House since 2014.
