Born in Leningrad, Vanda Lubkovskaya graduated from the Vaganova Leningrad School of Choreography (class of Vera Stankevich) in 1983.
The same year she joined the Kirov Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theatre (Mariinsky Theatre since 1992). Has performed roles in ballets such as La Sylphide (Nancy, Effie), Swan Lake (Neapolitan Dance), Raymonda (Saracen Dance), The Nutcracker (Trepak), Romeo and Juliet (Folk Dance) and others. Has also participated in the filming of the movie House by the Road (directed and choreographed by Vladimir Vasiliev, 1984).
In 2007 she graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty of the Vaganova Ballet Academy. From 2005 to 2008 she taught at the academy.
Since 2012 Vanda Lubkovskaya has been a ballet mistress at the Mariinsky Theatre, working with the corps de ballet. Among the productions, in the creation of which she involved, are Giselle, La Bayadère, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Raymonda, Don Quixote, The Pharaoh’s Daughter, Chopiniana, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, The Bronze Horseman, Paquita, Sylvia, Le Parc, Anna Karenina, Concerto DSCH, George Balanchine’s ballets Jewels, Scotch Symphony, Symphony in C, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Ballet Imperial.
At the Mariinsky Theatre Vanda Lubkovskaya has served as assistant to choreographers and directors such as Toni Candeloro, Ben Huys, Colin Niri, Anna Trevien, Susan Jones, Sandra Jennings, Angelin Preljocaj, Alexei Ratmansky, Yuri Smekalov and Yuri Burlaka.
In 2017 she presented George Balanchine’s choreography for Scotch Symphony at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
