Anna Shishkina


Assistant director and stage director

Anna Shishkina has served as assistant director for more than fifty opera productions currently in the Mariinsky Theatre’s repertoire, including Carmen, The Nose, Dead Souls, The Queen of Spades (production by Alexei Stepanyuk), The Maid of Pskov, Pagliacci and many others.

In 2023 she staged Iolanta and Nabucco, and in 2025 – The Golden Cockerel.

Anna Shishkina has also directed several adaptations of opera productions for the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre, including Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi, Così fan tutte, La traviata, Cavalleria rusticana and others, and has staged numerous concerts presented on the theatre’s various stages.

Under her direction the productions La traviata, Macbeth, The Queen of Spades, Turandot, Madama Butterfly, Mazepa and The Snow Maiden were adapted for the Mariinsky Theatre’s Primorsky Stage.

She has participated in tours of the Mariinsky Opera Company at the Moscow Concert Hall Zaryadye (productions of Die Walküre, Siegfried, Das Rheingold, Macbeth, Turandot, Pelléas et Mélisande and Semyon Kotko to name but a few), at the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania Branch of the Mariinsky Theatre (semi-staged version of Turandot), in Baden-Baden and Rimini (production of Simon Boccanegra) and in China (productions of Tosca and Macbeth).
