The State Concert Orchestra of Yakutia was founded in 1991 in Aldan. The orchestra frequently performs throughout Siberia and the Far East, appearing with such illustrious Russian musicians as Elena Obraztsova, Zurab Sotkilava, Galina Shoidagbaeva, Angelina Ilina-Dmitrieva, V. Ovsyannikov, A. Tsygankov, M. Gorobtsov, Sh. Amirov, A. Kapitan, N. Lyakhov, V. Eisenstadt, A. Borgardt, Olga Trifonova, Yevgeny Akimov, V. Andrianov, A. Gorbachev, Kim Kem Khee and Lee Kwan Sun among others.
The orchestra has performed on numerous occasions in Moscow (the Columned Hall of the House of the Unions, the Concert Hall of the Gnesins’ Russian Academy of Music and the Chamber Hall of the Moscow International House of Music) in addition to participating in All-Russian and international festivals and competitions.
Since 1993 the ensemble has collaborated with the Osipov National Academic Folk Instruments Orchestra (Moscow).
In 2007 the State Concert Orchestra of Yakutia joined the Russian Union of Concert Organisations and undertook the Golden Sounds of Olonkho tour of twenty-seven Russian towns and cities between Vladivostok and St Petersburg which commemorated three hundred and seventy-five years of Yakutia being part of Russia. The same year saw a joint project of the State Concert Orchestra of Yakutia, the State Academic Andreyev Russian Orchestra (Artistic Director and Conductor – Dmitri Khokhlov) and the concert chorus of the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg (Artistic Director – Vladimir Stolpovskikh) at Smolny Cathedral in St Petersburg.
Since 2007 the orchestra has taken part in the Moscow Easter Festival (2007, 2009, 2010). The ensemble has also regularly appeared with soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre and the Nariinsky Academy of Young Singers, among them Olga Trifonova, Yevgeny Akimov, Lyudmila Dudinova, Gelena Gaskarova, Andrei Bondarenko, Eleonora Vindau, Andrei Serov, Dmitry Voropaev, Yelizaveta Zakharova and Vladimir Moroz. The orchestra has performed concerts with these singers in Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk, Khabarovsk, Blagoveshchensk, Vladivostok, Birobidzhan and Neryungri.
