The St Petersburg Chamber Choir was founded in 1977 by Nikolai Kornev. The choir's repertoire includes a variety of a cappella programs, works of the cantata-oratorio genre, and opera productions. The choir has participated in recording music for theater productions and films and was nominated for a Grammy award in 1995 for their performance of Sergei Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil. The ensemble has repeatedly become a laureate of international competitions in Hungary, Germany, Italy, and other European countries, has performed at numerous festivals, and was the organizer of the I International Choral Festival in St Petersburg in 1991. Currently, the choir is working on creating an audio anthology of Russian choral music from the 17th to the 21st centuries.
